Advertising and Advocacy
Advertising
is to call the public's attention to your business, usually for the purpose of
selling products or services, through the use of various forms of media, such
as print or broadcast notices. Advertising provides a direct line of
communication to your existing and prospective customers about your product or
service. The purpose of advertising is to Enhance the image of your company, Convince
customers that your company's product or service is right for their needs or Make
customers aware of your product or service. (information from entrepreneur.com)
From my point of view “advertising”
and “advocacy” is the same purpose in term of public relationship but advocacy try to use media as a tools to change
something such as policy, human right or health care instead of promoting their
product or service as same as advertising but advocate people to create social
impact. Nowadays, both of advertising and advocacy is open for everyone to get
all information in everywhere which are when you take the BTS, road, Department
store, television or your smart phone. So, it very easy to access all
information in daily life but another point that I want to reflect about why I still remember the content of some advertising
and advocacy campaign even it has a long time to see via show example in each
case.
1. Key message
should be clear and short
This video published in 5 years ago, but I still remember what
content that they want to promote people to stop drinking in The Buddhist Lent
Day. The video driven by the man just said only “poor - strain – drinking” in 33 minutes, then I think
it very popular sentence to make me remember and easy to understand what they want to
communicate people because they used only one sentence which very clear message
to the audience.
2. To be
continued
This video continued to show the result after stop drinking you
will get more income, have a lovely family, can collect more money and have a
great life. So, I think it motivates people by show the positive image after their
stop drinking to create believe and I will be a part of people who believe in
this video.
3. Comedy
These videos have been supporting my thinking about one band name “Halls”
still make their advertise look funny because it can motivate people to
interest in their product even it will over act, but it still makes me laugh
when I saw this advertising and try to imitate actor’s feeling after they ate
candy with friends
because it’s very funny and easy to remember.
4. Depressing
story (Drama)
To be honest, I cry after see both advertising. These video are
very popular, according to 20,000,000 up views. So,
isn’t just only advertising but still motivate people to change their behavior
in the positive way.
So, these reasons come from my
personal perspective to think about what kinds of advertising or advocacy campaign
which be able to change my mind and love to follow in the next version.
An important point is that advocacy
and advertising can adapt to create the efficiently campaign, but cutting
something and add on. For example; I would like to create media to advocate
people to improve something by applying some guidelines about the way to create
advertising to make it interesting and easy to remember and try to change from convince
customers that your company's product or service is right for their needs, to convince
people that your campaign is right for their needs. So, I believe that if we
try to adapt something in each side it be able to make it efficiently and easy
to gain people who are interested in to join in our campaign.
